How to transfer a story from Strava to FATRACING

FATRACING · Updated

Request the archive of your Strava account and upload the ZIP to FATRACING. You don't need to connect Strava via the API for this: the history is transferred from the downloaded file.

1. Request an archive in Strava

Log in to your account on the Strava website and open data upload page. Choose Request download / Request archive. This page also contains account deletion — you only need to upload it to transfer it.

Another way: Profile Photo → Settings / Settings → My Account / My account → Download your account / Download account details → Get Started → Request download.

Strava will send an email with a ZIP link to the account's email address. Preparation can take several hours. Download the file from the link in the email; you don't need to unpack it.

The unloading procedure is described in official Strava help.

2. Upload the ZIP to FATRACING

Move the Strava archive

Log in to the FATRACING account where you want to store your history. On the transfer page, select the downloaded ZIP and click "Transfer training". The item is also available in your personal account on the "Training" tab.

The ZIP limit is 8 GB; the individual file inside is 64 MB, the unpacked content is 32 GB. Keep the page open until the download is complete. If the connection is interrupted, open the page again and select the same ZIP to continue. When the message "Archive downloaded" appears, processing is underway on the server and the page can be closed.

3. Check the result

Go back to transfer page: it will show the current stage and the result — how many workouts have been added, how many have already been and how many media files Strava has not included in the archive.

The history is available in training log and in my arrivals. Select the last year or month and open several training sessions: compare the date, distance, duration, description, route and photos.

The import uses the Strava Training ID: reloading the archive does not create new copies of the same records. It does not automatically combine a similar workout that previously came from Wahoo or Intervals.icu.

What is being transferred and what are the restrictions

Dates, names, descriptions, sport, distance and time are saved; GPS and sensor indicators — if they are in the source file; available photos, videos and their captions. The original training files are saved separately. Training without GPS is also transferred, without an artificial route.

Transferring does not create a new social network: subscribers, kudos, comments and clubs are not copied. Arrivals are saved in your account without automatic publication for subscribers. Strava privacy settings are not transferred. Personal notes from CSV are not displayed in the public card. Profile files and contact lists are not uploaded to FATRACING storage.

If Strava did not put the photo in a ZIP, it is impossible to download it from such an archive — the number of missing files will be in the report. A corrupted archive or unsupported track format will stop processing with an error message; recordings that have already been saved will remain. An archive larger than the limits will require a separate transfer for now: do not cut the ZIP with a regular archiver.
