For reference:
Eduard Shalukhov died on June 27, 2021 at the scene of an accident when he was riding along Engels Street on a bicycle and was hit at high speed by a female car driver.
Almost immediately after the accident, Eduard's friends prepared and launched a petition demanding that the roads of St. Petersburg be made safe. The proposed measures are designed to save hundreds of lives of St. Petersburg residents who die on the city's roads every year. To date, the petition has been supported by more than 9600 people.
The Let's Go-Let's Go Association advocates the development of a safe and convenient infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians. After the accident, the association sent letters to the traffic police and the Vyborg District Road Safety Commission in order to understand the causes of fatal accidents with cyclists and suggested taking measures to prevent them from happening again. In 2021, cyclists died the most in the Vyborgsky district of St. Petersburg.
In November 2021, the association held a number of events dedicated to the World Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Road Accidents. In particular, in memory of Eduard Shalukhov, a "ghost bike" was installed at the place of his death. And friends of the association from the Habitat held a memorial bike ride to the sites of fatal accidents with cyclists that occurred in 2021.
In 2022, the Let's Go-Let's Go association covered the trial, dealt with security issues, and held a round table on secure infrastructure dedicated to the memory of Eduard Shalukhov.
After the verdict was announced, the association made a statement about intolerance of deaths on the streets.
